Reducing plastics use is not enough - with volumes increasing and commitments not making enough of a dent, waste management infrastructure is drastically lacking across the world. Any comprehensive action against the time-sensitive issue of plastic pollution requires signficant investment in plastic recovery systems and infrastructure.

Switching out plastic from packaging is great! But it can be complicated: GHG impacts, food safety, shelf life, and availability of composting facilities can turn simple goals into complex decisions. But as companies work through this, plastic waste continues to pile up. still an impact... and that's not even considering the legacy of past plastic waste.
