Saie Beauty is a clean beauty brand “hyper focused on the footprint we’re leaving behind”. They partnered with rePurpose Global because they believe sustainability is critical to their line, “This is the new luxury. Products that are incredible but are also thoughtful.” -Laney Crowell, Founder of Saie Beauty

Saie believes in clean, eco-conscious ingredients and formulas that are packaged and shipped in materials that support the environment and the brand’s eco-friendly mission. They have partnered with rePurpose Global since 2021 to support their environmental goals through their Plastic Negative certification. In 2024, however, Saie has stepped up their sustainability goals– expanding their partnership with rePurpose as part of The Saie Climate Initiative.

Impact Focused Approach

Saie initially partnered with rePurpose Global to go Plastic Negative and to improve the sustainability of their product lines with packaging Life Cycle Analysis (LCA). They first went Plastic Negative with rePurpose Global in 2021, but they still want to have a bigger impact on our planet. That is why, in 2024, Saie launched the Saie Climate Initiative.

Saie’s Climate Initiative accelerates their sustainability goals in all areas of their processes, from product development to plastic recovery. Their triple-pronged approach strives to clean the planet, go carbon net zero across their emission scopes, and invest in female sustainability expertise. All Saie products have been Certified Plastic Negative since 2021, meaning they remove at least twice as much plastic waste from nature as their products use (including packaging, and supply chain) however, since the launch of the Saie Climate Initiative they have expanded their recovery efforts through rePurpose Global. Saie is on a mission to recover over 5 million pounds of plastic waste in just three years.

To date they have recovered around 581,313 lbs of ocean-bound plastic, but are accelerating their impact by recovering more than twice their usage. With the launch of the Climate Initiative, Saie also went from supporting 1 Impact Project in Goa, India, to supporting many more communities–  Buenaventura, Colombia; Douala, Cameroon; Medellin, Colombia, Kerala, India, and West Java, Indonesia. Through rePurpose Impact Projects Saie is preventing waste from polluting oceans and communities across 4 countries

Through these rePurpose Impact Projects, hard-to-recycle plastics will be repurposed into homes, schools, and playgrounds and 50K people will gain access to structured waste management, improving health, sanitation, and livelihoods. The Saie Climate Initiative will also support 2K women with fair wages, healthcare, and social security– driving economic empowerment– through waste recovery efforts.

The UN reports that women not only bear the brunt of climate change's global impacts but are also key drivers of sustainable purchasing and community-wide transformation. That’s why Saie formed an all-women board of cross-industry experts, with diverse perspectives and proven leadership to help us meet our goals. Svanika, co-founder of rePurpose Global, serves on Saie’s all-women advisory board, further guiding their sustainability efforts.

Partnership Results

Thanks to its rePurpose partnership, Saie has established itself from launch as a leader in clean beauty and sustainability. Since 2021 they have worked to remove twice as much plastic waste from the planet as they create and now, they recover beyond double to drive their goal of recovering 5 million lbs by 2027. Saie is creating a greener planet, bringing jobs and infrastructures to communities in need, and investing in female expertise to continue climate discussions. But Saie has also seen their impact reflected in their business returns and reputation.

Saie is on track to reach $100 million in sales since the launch of their climate initiative. Saie has been recognized as a Sephora Planet Aware brand, resonating with eco-conscious consumers and strengthening brand loyalty. They highlight their impact on the waste crisis through an rPG impact widget on their product pages, so customers can see the direct impact of their purchase.

Saie’s work with rePurpose has given them measurable environmental commitments for their partnership communications, website, and content teams. They’ve also seen increased consumer engagement across press releases, social media, and their website traffic.

In 2024, Saie produced Planet vs Plastic, a docuseries, with rePurpose showcasing the team’s impact in Goa, India, and the work they are doing to solve the waste crisis. Saie’s journey proves that bold action on plastic waste creates real impact—environmentally, socially, and for business success. To read more about the Saie Climate Initiative visit their website
